1. Our core principle: your data stays with you
Ebb is built to keep your health information private by design. Your cycle data is stored on your device. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or analyse your health data, and we do not have a copy of it. We cannot read your logs, your symptoms, your notes, or your predictions.
2. Information stored on your device
When you use Ebb, the following is created and stored locally on your iPhone (and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud, see Section 4):
- Period start dates and cycle history you log;
- Flow intensity, symptoms, moods, and free-text notes you enter;
- Predictions and insights the app computes from the above, entirely on your device;
- Your in-app preferences (e.g. appearance, reminders, sync on/off).
This information is created by you, for you. It stays under your control.
3. Information we do not collect
Ebb has no user accounts and contacts no analytics or advertising services. We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, location, device identifiers for tracking, usage analytics, or any of your health data. There is no tracking across apps or websites. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.
4. iCloud backup (optional, off by default)
iCloud backup is off by default. Your data stays on your device unless you choose to turn it on. We ask once during setup, and you can change it any time in Settings → Data & Trust. If you turn on iCloud backup, Ebb stores your data in your own private iCloud database using Apple’s CloudKit, so it can sync across your Apple devices. This data lives in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and your iCloud terms. We have no access to your iCloud data. Turning backup off stops future syncing; any data already copied to your iCloud may remain there until you delete it from your iCloud account.
5. Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you grant permission, Ebb can read your past period/flow days from Apple Health to improve your first prediction, and can write the periods you log back to Apple Health so your data stays in sync. This exchange happens on your device, with your explicit permission. You control it in the iOS Health app and in Ebb’s settings, and you can revoke it at any time. We never receive your Apple Health data, and Ebb does not use Health data for advertising or share it with third parties. Data read from Apple Health is used only to provide the app’s features to you.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Ebb offers an optional premium subscription. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment-card details. Apple may share with us limited, non-identifying information about your subscription status (for example, whether an entitlement is active) so the app can unlock premium features. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
7. Sensitive / reproductive-health information
We understand reproductive-health information is sensitive. Because Ebb does not transmit your health data off your device to us, we do not receive, store, share, or sell it, and we cannot be compelled to disclose data we do not hold. Information you choose to back up to your private iCloud, or to export and share yourself, is handled under the terms of those services and your own choices.
8. Data retention, export, and deletion
- You control retention. Your data stays until you delete it.
- Export. You can export your full history as CSV or PDF at any time from Data & Trust.
- Recently Deleted. Deleted entries are recoverable for 30 days, then removed.
- Full deletion. Deleting the App removes its on-device data. If you used iCloud sync, remove Ebb’s data from iCloud in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
9. Security
Your data is protected by your device’s security and, where applicable, iOS data protection and Apple’s iCloud encryption. Keep your device passcode and Apple ID secure. No method of storage is 100% secure, but because we never collect your data centrally, there is no central database of Ebb users’ health information to breach.
10. Children
Ebb is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because we collect no data centrally, the App’s health information remains on the user’s device under their control.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. Because Ebb keeps your data on your device, you can already exercise these directly: view and edit everything in-app, export it, and delete it. As we do not hold your data, there is typically nothing for us to retrieve or erase on our side. If you have questions, contact us at contact@xtenzatech.com.
12. International users
Ebb processes data locally on your device wherever you are. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple may store your iCloud data in data centres in various regions per Apple’s policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App or on this page. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
